Contributors


Nicolette House is a professionally trained coach, specializing in  athletics.  She assists athletes in transition, work/life balance, and mental  skills. A  skater herself, Nicolette has her USFS Gold Medals in Moves in the  Field,  Freestyle, Ice Dance, and Free Dance. She is a European and World  competitor in ice dancing. Nicolette is currently undergoing certification  through the IPEC school for Professional Excellence in Coaching and the  Institute for Integrative Nutrition to become a Certified Health Counselor. Nicolette graduated Summa Cum Laude from DePaul University in 2011 with a Bachelor’s in psychology. In her free time Nicolette enjoys cooking, writing, and traveling.

Jo Ann Schneider Farris has written hundreds of articles about skating.  Her articles have been published in SKATING Magazine, The Professional Skater, Recreational Ice Skating, and have been included in US Figure Skating Online, icenetwork.com, Examiner.com, and About.com.  She has been About.com’s Guide to Figure Skating since 2006.  In 2010, Jo Ann represented About.com at the Winter Olympics in Vancouver.  She has been a competitive skater and skating coach, and has directed both Ice Skating Institute and U.S. Figure Skating programs. In addition, her own three children are competitive figure skaters who have competed multiple times in both pair skating and ice dancing at the regional, sectional, and junior national levels.  In addition, Jo Ann is the author of How to Jump and Spin on Inline Skates.  She is a member of U.S. Figure Skating, Ice Skating Institute, the Professional Skaters Association, and the Broadmoor Skating Club.

Ilona Horvath House is the Founder and President of IceTalent Inc. She  began skating at the age of 4 years old and continued skating until she  earned her US Figure Skating Gold Medals in Figures, Free Style and Ice  Dance. Ilona began her coaching career in 1978 and trained national and  international competitors. Her greatest pleasure has been training her  daughter and watching the students she has mentored become happy and  healthy adults. Over the past several years she has been involved in various  business related projects including professional ice shows.
