Michael Sklutovsky, creator of PrivateProList.com, is getting the skating community up to speed where marketing in 2013 is concerned. Skating professionals now have the opportunity to advertise and market themselves in a new way. PrivateProList, officially launched in March of 2012, is a website dedicated to matching professionals giving private lessons in a variety of sports with members of their local community. Simply by typing in zip codes, rink names, or pro names, those looking for private lessons can search a database of coaches and find a good fit for them. The website helps potential students get to know the coaches in their area. It also helps coaches advertise their services, without the worry of solicitation. Michael gave IceTalent the scoop on what makes this website such a great resource for anyone involved in giving or receiving private lessons.

IceTalent: Tell us about PrivateProList.

MS: The main focus is to promote private lessons from private pros. A service like PrivateProlist is a good tool for (skaters) to find coaches, look at bio and fees, and contact the coaches directly.

IceTalent: Skating pros aren’t the only ones to advertise on this site. Who else can advertise their services on the site?

MS: I thought about doing just figure skating service, but then I thought why stop there? We included pretty much any area of art, music, sport, personal training, or academics, where private lessons are offered.

IceTalent: How can professionals offering private lesson benefit from being on PrivateProList?

MS: In  figure skating, we don’t really advertise in any other way (except business cards). Skaters can’t go into a database and look up who works at a certain rink. With my website you can. This website becomes a big billboard, anyone can see you.  Then also I have connected my website to rink’s websites. For example, I connected my website to Champion Skating Center’s website in Conneticut. When someone visits the rink website and clicks on ‘skating coaches’ they are redirected to PrivatePro List, which automatically pulls all the coaches that work at that rink. Every coach has strong areas and they can display them here.

IceTalent: What advantage do skaters have by using Private ProList?

MS: The advantage for skaters is being informed. With PrivateProlist skaters can just look up a coach, see how many years they worked, their area of expertise, and how much they charge.

IceTalent: How can skaters and coaches find out about PrivateProList?

MS: If someone searches Google for private ice skating lessons, a link to my website shows up. Word of mouth, too. I kind of took PrivateProList on the road and visited Chicago Detroit, made a big circle, and it helped spread the word.
